It's about how Christians deal with money and possessions. It's also about the way we relate to other people.

So stewardship means how we live as Christ's disciples and how we use all our resources. Thinking hard about our attitude to money and giving is one side of the stewardship coin, but it's not just a way of funding the church. In fact, ASA is dedicated to helping people be the church. Shared ministry is at the heart of what it means to be the church family and this is the other side of the stewardship coin. The two are inseparable.

In reality, much of what we call "stewardship" in our churches is dull and uninspiring or just plain wrong.

For many churches, their most pressing concern is lack of money. They have endless discussions about how to pay the bills and only talk about money because they need it. Anyone who recognises this description knows that it's soul-destroying and leaves little time or energy for the church to fulfil its mission. Through the FULL MEASURE Project©, ASA demonstrates that it is also unnecessary and un-Christian.

When we think about giving as a response to Christ, we start to make a connection between how much we have received and how much we give. This more thoughtful commitment brings spiritual growth and our commitment to giving grows as our faith develops and deepens. When church members practise true Christian stewardship, problems such as shortage of money, and other human resources, become secondary. There is no need to keep nagging people to give more and the church is freed to proclaim the gospel by example.
